POSITION TITLE: Theater Production Teacher Consultant BASIC FUNCTION: In an extended-day school program located in Logan Square, Chicago, instructor will create and deliver a theater production program for 5th-8th grade students. Theater program will conclude each semester with a performance. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Create a theater production program which introduces all students to basic aspects of theater production, including stage make-up, costumes, set design, sound, and lighting · Deliver a unique and fun program that creatively engages students · Design a program that aligns with existing equipment and materials · Coordinate and follow production timelines to prepare students and technical aspects of performances · Train students to work and run technical elements of production · Set up and clean up space · Meet weekly with Theater Coordinator · Provide weekly lesson plans to Theater Coordinator · Attend orientation and planning session in early September QUALIFICATIONS: · 3-4 years experience teaching theater with emphasis on production to urban middle school youth · Familiarity with Latin cultures and arts · Bilingual Spanish/English a plus · Strong classroom management skills · Reliable and professional · Strong references SPECIFICATIONS: · Non-exempt · Typically a 10-month position (CPS School Year) · Tuesday/Thursday afternoons Submit resume and cover letter to lpacegreen@yahoo.com
