Hypatia Theatre Company is looking for new plays to produce during a week long Symposium around Valentine's Day 2007. Four plays will be chosen for the Symposium and performed as staged readings in February of 2007, and one lucky piece will receive full production later in the year. REQUIREMENTS 1. Playwrights must be based in Chicago(or willing to pay for your own travel during the week of the festival) 2. The plays must be un-produced. 3. Plays should be emailed to newplays@hypatiatheatre.org as Word or PDF files. 4. If you must send a hard copy, please mail (with a cover page) to: HTC New Play Symposium c/o Caitlin Parrish 4662 N. Rockwell Chicago, IL 60625 5. All pieces must have numbered pages. 6. No translations of others' work/musicals/plays that require more than 6 actors. 7. Content, form, and length are up to you. 8. Hypatia DEVELOPS new plays. Production will include intense table work and revision involving a director, a dramaturg, and a cast. You must be willing to allow for changes to your script. 9. The subject matter is Love. That's a broad topic. Do with it what you will. 10. And most importantly, plays must in some way adhere to the mission of Hypatia Theatre Company.
